Outreach Special Activities

Christ Lutheran Church Community Kitchen: This community activity is supported by Outreach as a yearlong commitment to provide a crew of 12-16 people on designated Saturdays to help with the preparation and serving of approximately 120 meals. This commitment involves a three-hour time obligation and includes setting up and cleaning up after the meal.

Loaves and Fishes: This monthly activity involves the preparation and delivery of a hot evening meal.  The meal is prepared for the residents and staff of the Loaves and Fishes Crisis Shelter (approx. 12 people). There is a sign-up sheet for this monthly commitment.

Quilters: The ever-famous quilting committee continues to provide hundreds quilts to Lutheran World Relief.  These quilts are made throughout the year and provide warm clean bedding to those in need. If you are interested, stop by the church on Thursday mornings.

Safe Journeys Car Seat Ministry is an ongoing project at Calvary in cooperation with Christian Services, Safe Kids Capitol Area Coalition and Sparrow Hospital to distribute car seats and provide training for their installation. The car seats are given out on the third Friday of every month. Calvary is also a car seat technician inspection site where installation training is provided to those who already have car seats.
