Worship Services
We offer worship each Sunday at 10:00 am, year-round. During the school year (the second Sunday following Labor Day through the weekend before Memorial Day in May), we offer adult education hour from 8:30 – 9:30 am, and children’s Sunday school during the worship service. Adult education meets in the Meeting Room and children’s Sunday school meets in the Classroom in the education wing of our building.

We offer a variety of worship and music styles. The first and third weeks of the month, we offer a blended style worship service with both traditional and contemporary music alike, and with both a choir and a praise team. The second Sunday of each month we offer a traditional service with classic hymns, organ, a hand bell choir, and a choir. The fourth week of the month, we offer a contemporary service with newer songs and a praise team. Months there is a fifth Sunday, we offer a special service, some examples of which have been a hymn sing, camp songs Sunday, world music Sunday, a jazz band, Dixieland music, and others.

As you enter Calvary, you will be welcomed by greeters. Ushers will hand you a worship bulletin as you enter the sanctuary.

There is plenty of seating available in the sanctuary. Sit wherever you like, there aren’t any reserved seats. Moveable seats rather than pews allow wheelchair users to sit with their family or friends in any row.

Our worship services are easy to follow by using the bulletin and they last about an hour. Worship at Calvary typically begins with a welcome from the pastor, a gathering hymn or songs, a prayer, and readings from the Bible. Following a brief children’s sermon, our pastor shares a sermon, which is followed by another hymn or song, prayers, an offering, communion, and a closing hymn or song. The pastor will give any directions needed during the service.

At Sunday worship, one of several settings in the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal is generally used. Music may range from traditional to contemporary and might include songs from African American, Spanish language and popular music resources. During Lent, there are additional worship opportunities offered on Wednesdays.

Guests are never singled out or embarrassed. We won’t ask you to stand or wear a name tag or anything like that. If you choose, you may sign our fellowship pad along with the other members and visitors in attendance, or sign our guest book in the gathering space.

We don’t expect our guests to put anything in the offering plate, though you are certainly welcome to if you would like. Our members and regular attendees freely give to support our ministries.

We offer Communion at every worship service and all who believe that Christ is present in the meal are invited to share in this Holy Sacrament. On Sunday you will be directed to the front of the sanctuary by the ushers. Both wine and grape juice are available using individual glasses poured from a common cup. Both bread and gluten free wafers are also available. Complete communion directions are included in the bulletin and in the invitation to communion.

Children are welcome to attend all worship services and to come to the front of the sanctuary for a children’s sermon year-round. Please simply ask the ushers if you need help or directions.
